I recently went snowshoeing with some friends and found my lower legs were pretty tired by the end of our trek.
Admittedly it was a near 4 hour excursion but it sure helped to stretch out afterward. I didn't feel very sore the next day.
We lift our knees more when we snowshoe than when we walk or hike so it's good to have a variety of stretches to draw upon.
